On a sunny Sunday afternoon, I walked down E. Bay Street in Charleston, admiring all the stately architecture. I noticed a bicycle loaded with easel and art supplies parked on the sidewalk in front of a beautiful house. As I was photographing this marvelous conveyance the artist emerged from his house. Dab, a Dabberly style painter, spoke at great length to me about the latest trends of artistic expression using computers and the "tracing technique" which definitely is not his style of painting. Check this site to learn about Dabbish style of painting and this talented guy.

Some people are so creative, even when they just dabble in the arts! :-)
ReplyDeleteNow you'll have me singing that old Brylcream song, "Brylcram! A Little Dab Will Do Ya!" the rest of the day.
Nice portrait, Ms. Minnesota!
Oh, that Ms. Minnesota stuff reminded me that back in the 60s, my mother was one of the 25 finalists for Mrs. Minnesota! I always thought that was so funny!
ReplyDeleteWow he really is a talented young man Kate, not everyone can say they created a new style of art.
ReplyDeleteYou have been making some fine portraits of late, Kate. This is but one of them. Steffe had better watch out!
ReplyDeleteUmm ... just looked at your current reading list in the side-bar! You have surely bitten off a mouthful. I saw 'Lincoln' yesterday and want to get my hands on the Kearns Goodwin book it was partially based upon.
ReplyDeleteVery talented young man!

ReplyDeleteYou certainly make your visits to other locales more enriching by engageing the people you encounter. More than just a photograph randomly taken, you have a short story from a page of their lives!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the provided link to Dab's website. A colorful and talented gent he is!
He looks like a cool, artsy character! Always fun to talk to artists about their work and talent, Great Kate!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like the 'Morton fisherman'. Nice portrait.
