While buying a loaf of sourdough bread in the Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery in West Ashley, I was struck by the beauty of the woman behind the counter. Her accent certainly indicated that she is not a South Carolinian, and Berfa revealed that she is from Adana, Turkey. She's here because she married someone from this area. Although her family is still in Turkey Berfa has a sister who had preceded her and who lives here in the Charleston area, also. A charming young woman.

Wow, she is beautiful. I'd talk turkey to her!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see the south becoming more multi-cultural.
ReplyDeleteI just had a conversation yesterday with someone who works with us and she commented that she cannot be buried in her family's cemetery in the
North Carolina because she has too much "Yankee blood." Her next comment was that she would not want to be buried with a bunch of relatives who do not want here there.
She certainly is a pretty young lady. I like the way she has her hair fixed. It reminded me of our niece who spent half of her young life make her long, black hair look like this. We seldom got to see her except at the annual family reunions and the last time we saw her she had a short, bobbed (not sure of the name) haircut that was more or less, straight. And she was just as beautiful...
