CYPRESS GARDENS is a 170 acre swamp-garden rich in natural beauty and fascinating history. The land was originally part of Dean Hall one of the Cooper River's largest and most prosperous rice plantations. The swamp was used to flood the adjoining rice fields by a system of trunks and ditches. Tall bald cypress and tupelo trees are reflected in the mirror-like black water and nature abounds. great picture, i can imagine the humidity and heat. I love the reflection, the water looks like glass.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful reflections and I truly enjoyed the memories this evoked.
ReplyDeleteWonderful capture of the trees reflected in the water. Peaceful scene!
ReplyDeleteI bet you can find some interesting birds here. That is, if you avoid the alligators.
ReplyDeleteA swamp looks so unusual to my arid Arizona eyes. It has a beauty all it's own.
ReplyDeleteSeems like there is always some critter lurking around. Here it might be a bobcat, there it's those pesky alligators. I am guessing you didn't see one because if you did we would be seeing a picture of it;)
we have a cypress swamp and park in texas but i've never been there to see it. love those 'knees'.
ReplyDeleteMuch as this area looks appealing, signs like those give me serious pause.
ReplyDeleteNow is a good time to visit the swamps. No mosquitoes!
ReplyDeleteWow! And, alligators too but not in this photo...the water is so still. Beautiful. (Loved reading about your take on the Academy Awards.)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post for G and excellent photography ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteSo you did get down here to Florida! Did you see the girls in long skirts and the water-skiing show? :))

Gators! I don't think so.
ReplyDeleteDear Kate, re your comment on Ocala: I knew that! I was joshing with you. The REAL Cypress Gardens is, of course, in Florida, and they have beautiful southern belles in hoopy skirts and lots of people water skiing and doing tricks and stuff. I'm not sure it is still an active entertainment venue, though. They might have gone bust. Or maybe they moved north to some place in the Carolinas? Heh, heh!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this beautiful place. It looks very peaceful! Thanks for your visit. Have a great Wednesday.
