Meet Ya at the Corner

Another Blair Arcade Mural: Although the present day corner looks much different than this painting, this is the corner where the building still stands
Today in MN History:-1926- The old Mendota bridge to Fort Snelling opens and is dedicated to the men of the 151st Field Artillery who had been killed in World War I. (Historical information taken from the MN Historical Society's website: mnhs.org)

  5. A glimpse into another time, another way of living. You rarely see men in hats, standing on street corners talking anymore. Today only tourists or dailyphotobloggers take time to stop and look.

  8. Hi Kate, I'm enjoying the tour of the Blair Arcade and am glad that you posted another photo of the murals. I find it interesting (and so far no one else has commented about this?) that these murals from the turn of the century show blacks along side whites. Do you know if it was the case in St Paul that blacks lived in/frequented the same areas as whites back then? For sure, St Paul is not the South, but I wonder how true these murals were to the times. If so, what a progressively great city St Paul was/is!

  10. Very nice mural!
In Sydney, they are building Australia's first vertical village - see my post today. What will happen to the good old saying 'meet ya at the corner'??? Corner of the lift?
