In a Matter of Minutes...
In a matter of minutes, the best laid plans can change! Dear Husband slipped and fell on his right shoulder last Friday. On Monday his doctor sent him to get an MRI. On Tuesday as we were packing for our getaway to México we got the bad news: rotator cuff surgery required. Flights and casa were cancelled...so here we are, still in our own casa in St. Paul. We missed the beginning of the winter season in Mazatlán, México because I was recovering from rotator cuff surgery and now we're missing the latter half because of Jim's surgery and recovery. Since his pain is increasing, we made the right decision rather than toughing it out in another country. So, come on back, and I'll try to post some scintillating Minnesota photos for you!

Oh Kate, I'm sorry that Jim needs surgery. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteNow this is crap. Get well Jim and if you need some tuff luv, just let me know....
ReplyDeleteouch, sorry you cant get down to Mexico, but better to get his injury taken care of.
ReplyDeleteZut alors! I'm so sorry your Mexican travel plans had to change! I hope Jim has a complete and quick recovery! I can only imagine how disappointed you both are....
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a bit odd that the two of you required rotator cuff surgery? What are the odds of that happening in the same family? I think the doc is making payments on a Rolls Royce or buying a new home in Mexico. I would sure look around for a different doctor/surgeon.
ReplyDeleteI had a dentist do that to me but he got caught and lost his license.
Abe, do not rub salt on the wounds; there were four different doctors involved and two different imaging agencies: two primary doctors (we go to different doctors) and two different surgeons (we went to two different surgeons, too.) The incidents were months apart. I doubt that they all collaborated. Falls on ice during this horrible winter has resulted in a very high percentage of falls. I'm bummed enough already!!
ReplyDeleteYou left out the details. All I remember is seeing you both had to have rotator cuff surgery. Next time add the details and I won't have to apologize for anything.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. But maybe this accident saved you from other problems, who knows. I wish quick recovery to your husband.
ReplyDeleteOh Kate, so sorry to hear of the accident. I agree, health comes before vacation. Here's to a quick recovery!
ReplyDeleteWell that's too bad. Sorry to hear this. Ironic he is following your footsteps so to speak. Hopefully the weather will be cooperative for you up here in the frozen tundra.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I just can't believe it. Well they say things happen for a reason. I think he should recover here in Santa Fe. I know you wanted a beach but we're a little warmer than you are right now. Maybe you can make it for Indian Market.
ReplyDeleteNice job with the clock. Obviously the timing was off for your trip to Mazatlan...I agree with Randy - head to Santa Fe for recovery!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear! You did make the right decision though.
ReplyDeleteThe delay will probably make the trip seem oh so much sweeter! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteJohn Lennon once said "Life is what happen to us, while we are making other plans"...
ReplyDeleteYou could both need the getaway, but I do understand the decision! Keep smiling ;-)
Oh no! Bummer, but best to get it taken care of before any long journey. It wouldn't be any fun if he was in pain the whole time.
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show, you never know.
Oh, no! Hope the surgery goes well!
ReplyDeleteDitto the ZUT ALORS! That is just not fair, my dear friend... I hope that he has a speedy recovery and thinking rationally he should be in familiar, comfortable surroundings.
ReplyDeleteThinking about you and I would be delighted to see all that you have in MN. Hang in there, ma chère!
Gros biz,
Genie
So sorry, Kate. I know you were getting sick of the northern winter and looking forward to some southern sun and warmth. But, priorities have to change as circumstances change. Good luck to your husband. Hope his surgery goes well and his recovery is speedy.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this.
ReplyDeleteOh NO! And here I was thinking you are enjoying the sun in Mexico!
ReplyDeleteOH, Kate,
ReplyDeletejust catching up on your blog.... here I was thinking you were in Mazatlan!
sorry for your husbands injury & your delayed trip. I always try to think everything happens for a reason... perhaps you averted a disaster that you didn't know existed had your plans gone though. just a thought. MANY years ago, I broke my jaw right before a backpacking trip & couldn't go... & that's what I told myself at the time.
