Donate Books

When I was still teaching I coordinated the donation of textbooks, fiction, non-fiction, and children's books to be dropped off at Books for Africa in a warehouse in downtown St. Paul where books are collected and sorted. I continue to recommend this outstanding non-profit organization as a great place to leave slightly-used books in good condition. Regularly, large shipments of donated books are sent to many different African countries for school libraries and community centers. They also welcome cash donations to help with shipping costs.

  1. What a great charity idea, Kate.

If you could give the address of Books for Africa, maybe some of your readers could make a cash donation.

Meanwhile, if you come by my blog you'll see some pics of the Clinton Library.

  2. I absolutely love your choice of Tolken quotes...that and your commitment to getting good books to those who need them make me quite sure you'd be enjoyable company.

This is a nice shot. I enjoy the angle and descriptive blogging that goes with it.

  7. Donating books for poor country I think is a very good idea. My hubby sends books regularly to SOS Children in Kenya. They always send us the progress of the children there. And those children are gorgeous. Nice posting Kate.

  9. I am looking for an organization to take about 120 slighty used LIfe Science textbooks and donate them to school children in Africa. I am looking to drop them off somehwhere within driving distance to me... I am on location...would the site where you dropped work? Please let me know...I really dont want to see these books go in the trash. I am a middle school science teacher on Long Island. Thanks, Erin
