WWII Honor Roll

For a very small Wisconsin community, that's quite a few names of veterans who served.  I wonder if the starred name is the only fatality? Perhaps that plaque on the bottom right explains it; when I snapped the photo I did not notice it.

  2. All of our communities gave so much in WWII. And I think this shows real patriotism of this particular community.

  3. I would think the starred name definitely designates a fatality. Reading the names, it would appear that at least one family sent off all their sons.

  8. These types of rolls always bring a slight chill, a lump in my throat, and a glossy film over my eyes. I've noticed the same thing in my travels through Texas where I try to stay off the major highways and take the lesser traveled roads through small towns. I too have marveled at the German, Polish, Czech and Latino names of various towns' citizens who joined up, left their homes and families, and gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our way of life.
