We are very generous hosts but these visitors are very elusive. I cannot get close to them nor will they pose for me. They refuse to leave, and we will be feeding and sheltering them all winter, too. I think that my fine feathered friend should be far more cooperative. I guess I'll just have to visit
Cafe Grace in Perth to get pictures of colorful birds that are willing to pose for me.

That is an unusual bird, a red rooster?
ReplyDeleteThis is a much smaller bird; a Cardinal that visits or feeders year round and is a common sight here.
ReplyDeletehe's a beauty in the green. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the contrast; since you're taking care of him you can honestly say that you're 'protecting your virtue'.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird. We tend to see cardinals just in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI have a very hard time with those cardinals too! They are terribly camera shy.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you successfully took this photo, Kate.
ReplyDeleteWell, looks like you got a good shot.
ReplyDeleteThey're very cocky birds and were the bullies of my mother's feeders. But we are certainly attracted to them, aren't we. I keep saying things like beauty is only skin deep, you can't judge a book by its cover and all those other maxims, but when it comes down to the final analysis, we humans love cardinals, primarily for their beauty, not their attitude toward others!
ReplyDeleteYou got a fantastic shot here Kate, small birds are so flighty it's hard to catch them. Didn't you hear Cafe Grace has closed for spring/summer :) although I might be tempted to open up especially for this little beauty :)
ReplyDeleteCardinals are handsome birds, but as you say -- not very cooperative with photographers.
