I am not sure how to decipher this old and interesting registration tag on the rear fender of a very old bike I spotted at the Highland Park branch library. The bike itself had seen better days; I hung around for awhile to wait for the owner who never emerged while I was there. I wanted to get a bit of history about both the bike and the rider. Sometimes you're just not successful.

Gosh that is a really fascinating registration tag Kate.. old for sure, much more festive than yesterday :) I did the very same thing as you, there's a guy with a parrot on his bike parked outside the TAB in Northbridge everyday and would you believe when I went in to snap it for the theme.. nowhere in sight, I even had a coffee and waited, no luck :)
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't find the owner. I've never seen a bike plate quite like this. I don't think too many places around here require bike registration. If they did it might cut down on the theft!
ReplyDeleteIt does look old but I see by it's decorations that someone loves it.
ReplyDeleteA contrast in bright, colorful, and new with old and rusty.
ReplyDeleteThat bicycle looks old and well loved.
ReplyDeleteLove the decorations on it!
ReplyDeleteWait! I think I recall that there was a time where bikes needed plates in Maine. Like before I ever had a bike. Was I dreamin? Drawing a big blank here.
ReplyDeleteSomeone must be happy with the colourful decorated bike:-)
ReplyDeleteIt is very colourful.
