This seemed too pedestrian to use as my theme day photo but they have become very popular. For the past few years, these green rental bikes have been appearing everywhere, especially around college campuses which abound in my neighborhood: St. Kate's, St. Thomas University, Macalester, and Hamline that are fairly close by.
Grocery stores and business also have racks of these bikes.

I like the green. And I'm waiting for them here, pedestrian or not.
ReplyDeleteGreen is the right colour for these bikes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful perspective!!
ReplyDeleteNeat photo! And I agree with Andy that the colour green is appropriate.
ReplyDeletei just saw similar ones on an ottawa blog. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have them in Ft. Worth Texas. Our Mayor, who is a woman, is all for them. She has even shown up at official events riding one.
ReplyDeleteWe have similar bike rental in Charlotte and Greenville. They are not green but they are popular :)
ReplyDeleteThey look a bit heavy, but I like the color!
ReplyDeleteThese bikes are definitely a lot like the ones I've featured!
ReplyDeleteNice symmetrical picture. Kate.
ReplyDeleteThese bicycles have a good design.
These rental bikes are everywhere now. Ours are the same color but they are called Grid.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea, not only for theme day but for getting around too!
ReplyDeleteWe have them around the city here and I think they are supposed to be doubling in numbers next year. Bicycles seem to be coming back in a big way!
ReplyDeleteThe colour scheme is certainly eye-catching, Kate. I do not know that Sydney has a bike rental scheme. I suspect the city and the suburbs are too hilly for it to be very popular.
ReplyDeleteLiving out in the country in a rural area rental bikes are unheard of. Even are largest nearby town, population 35,000 and home to a state university, doesn't have rental bikes! So it seems very strange to me. If they're as popular as all the comments seem to indicate maybe they will make their way here in another 20 years. We seem to be a bit behind and it takes a while for things to catch on. I think it's a super shot for theme day.
ReplyDeleteCool. We have them in Paris and other cities and they are due to arrive in V. Someday....
ReplyDeletePedestrian? No, pedestrians walk!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Linda. Nobody could be pedestrian on one of these ;)
ReplyDeleteI like the name Kate.. 'Nice ride' so much better than bumpy :)
ReplyDeleteI like these bikes. I don't find this shot pedestrian at all. It's nice that bike loan racks like these are making there way to more cities.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. They all look nicely lined up and waiting to be used. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWe have a similar program here in Madison, except the bikes are -- appropriate enough -- red. ☺
