Food Trucks have been all the rage for several years now, and what a wonderful boon for the people working downtown, especially in the sunshine, and warm summer weather. I occasionally drive downtown just to sample some of the food on the various menus. It is almost a festive experience.
The City Daily Photo theme for August is “Takeaway Store”. Click here for pictures from all over the world interpreting the theme.
Back in the day it was called the roach coach. Lots of microwave food and canned soda.
ReplyDeleteI do see the appeal Kate, especially as you say on a lovely warm day. Super idea for the theme.
ReplyDeleteI understand some of these trucks have real live chefs who serve up some delicious gourmet fare. Can't wait to get back to the city on a visit to try some of these.
ReplyDeleteFood trucks are all the rage in Toronto too. Do vendors need special permits in St. Paul? They do here.
ReplyDeletelooks to be a good choice there
ReplyDeleteFood trucks have come a long way since the early days of trucks visiting construction sites. They have a lot more class now.
ReplyDeleteLONG lines reveal a lot. mmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI had left a longer comment but deleted most of it before hitting post. I was going to say, 'back in the day' the menu was mainly microwave sandwiches, chips and can soda. Today it's much more exotic with fancy plate lunches. Many times after our races they have food trucks lined near the finish line. They also have to be registered and regulated by the health department.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice.
ReplyDeletei love food trucks...my husband loves to cook and we both cook up some really excellent mexican food that you can't get here in roanoke, it's our southern california style taco shop food...i always tell my husband we need to get us a food truck and serve burritos and tacos, from 2 white people lol
ReplyDeletebetter than an old hot dog cart, any day!
ReplyDeleteYou have found a real "take out" place for the theme day! These are getting more and more popular.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be springing up everywhere these days!
ReplyDeleteThose rolling kitchens always have nice original food.
ReplyDeleteYes! Food Trucks, they are the next black downunder as well.
ReplyDeleteI fancy a California Burger!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm wondering what Daisy's cookie is!
ReplyDeleteJim Klenke is right, and I remember worse names for them "back in the day," too. I'm glad they're living up more to their potential.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting quite a variety of them now, more than the old dogs and burgers standby that you'd have seen ten years ago.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Food trucks are hot. But, I almost never eat at food trucks. Can't explain why not.
ReplyDeleteWe have one that is absolutely wonderful. It's called Santa Fe Bang Bite.
ReplyDeleteVery colourful. Wouldn't mind getting a Daisy's cookie.
ReplyDeleteThat seems like a good idea We haven't many of those here.
