Saturday Farmer's Market

Even late Saturday morning the Farmer's Market was busy (and chilly!) a week ago.  I passed on the pumpkins but bought millet seed for our parrot, and squash, radishes, beets, scallions, and tomatoes for us. Yum! You haven't lived 'til you've eaten beet greens! Great meals this past week!

Reminder:  The theme day for November is "Heights."

  3. These markets are so much fun. We have one every Saturday morning in the downtown square but for some reason I forget about it until it's too late. Doth look a wee bit chilly there. I suppose you're off to Santa Fe 'ere long. Hope you are feeling much better!

  5. Many years ago I visited this market with a friend who was living there at the time. I remember she got some gorgeous gladiolas that day.
I loved your comment on my site today. The funny thing is, I haven't even begun to show all the decorations this house has. They have at least 25 skeletons and other figures in their yard, along the roof and in the trees. They moved to the neighborhood three years ago and they have been decorating for Halloween like that each year with more and more things added every year. They are really into the Halloween holiday.

    1. Not green beets, Barbara, but the leafy green tops of the beets, washed and sauteed as another tasty part of the beets.

  17. "Green beets." Sounds like Dr. Seuss. Love both beets and their greens. Feels like - and is - super nutrition. And it sounds like you're back in the swing of things again. Good to read.

  18. I was really surprised that you found tomatoes this late in the year in - of all places - Minnesota! Our local farmer closed up his produce stand about a month ago.
