Identity, Please?

Rather than do some research myself, I thought that I would take the easy way out and ask if any of you can identify this very interesting tree/shrub. I've watched it dry up during the fall and winter but spring back to life during the wonderful summer months. After several years, I suppose I should finally make an effort to find out.

ADDED LATER: I surfed the web and the closest I could find is a "dwarf weeping fir" tree: go here to see "weeping Larch tree"

  1. If it has red flowers it may be this one: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callistemon In Brazil it has the same popular name: 'escova de garrafa'

  9. this is a new one on me. Fascinating that it dries up and then flourishes again.

  13. Dwarf weeping fir? That's pretty interesting. I wonder if I've seen anything like that here (we are, after all, the Evergreen State). I'd expect an evergreen like a fir to stay green year round but you have some pretty tough winters.
