Tall Ships Festival, Duluth, MN

I took these photos in 2011, the last time I saw the tall ships in Duluth.  From August 18-21st, they again will be in Lake Superior at the port of Duluth. As usual I waited too long  to make hotel reservations, and now there is NOTHING less than $400+ a room available in Duluth, Superior, Wisconsin and the surrounding small communities. DH, WW, and I will get up early on the 18th or 19th and drive to Duluth to see these outstanding vessels.  To learn more about the festival, go here for an overview.

  3. That'll be a long day for you, but well worth it. Ships like these certainly are fascinating.

  4. Lovely photos of this square rigged ship. I could easily spend a day or more looking at tall ships, just so I don't have to climb the rigging to set or take in sails.

  5. I lived in Duluth for several years as a youth. Loved it, except for the cold. Love these tall ships. You're lucky to get to go see them. Have a fun trip.

  7. You need to get up early in the 18th or 19th century to REALLY see a lot of sail, LOL! Love this post, glad I wandered over here.

  8. I like to see the tall ships too. We have a Sail in Amsterdam once in five years, I always love it. Hope you can see a few of them.
