JABULILE- ABC WEDNESDAY-"J"
I recently visited Pinckney National Historical Park because of an outdoor program of story-telling and steel drum music. I met and talked at length with Carolyn E. White who is a folk-life historian with a wonderful wit and wisdom on Gullah life and culture. Some of her travels have taken her to several African countries, and it was in South Africa that she was given the
Zulu name Jabulile.

I'd love the tag along with you someday and observe how you bring up the subject of taking a stranger's photo and getting their permission to publish it on your blog. I'm not a timid person but I'm reluctant to ask people. I've pretty much quit doing it since I've moved to rural Texas because everyone here knows everyone else and strangers are few and far between to most folks. Love this headgear on this lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteShe looks very regal and the name is very fitting! Beauty of a portrait, Kate!
ReplyDeleteAnother of your wonderful portraits. Love her necklace.
ReplyDeleteShe was royalty in another life. Heck, she is royalty in THIS life.
