Camera Critters-Saturday and Sunday: MN State Fair

The Birthing Center and the Swine Barn are favorite stops. According to the paper, fairgoers were avoiding the swine barn because of swine flu!! Amazing how misinformation gets around. The biggest sow is always something to see. Had to laugh when I learned that a hog was named Brett Favre. If you are an American football fan and have followed his career, you'll understand the humour...especially since joining the Vikings after 16 years with its archrival, the Green Bay Packers. The hog's owner must have been a Packer fan!

  1. Very nice pics, I can imagine that naming a hog after someone is not a compliment...

  2. Just can't see ole Brett embraced by the Viking faithful. Even the media has become disenchanted with him. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

  7. Love the pigglets and big mama sow. Missed that barn this year. Ran out of time and energy. The hot temps just sapped our get up and go.

  9. This is such a sweet shot, Kate. Babies asleep, any species, always appeal to me. Glad you had the hog barn relatively to yourselves, too.

I missed coming by on your blogoversary but wanted to say congratulations on 3 years of wonderful posts, both here in St. Paul and from Mazatlan. You always have an eye and something worthwhile to say and for us to see. I've very much enjoyed being one of your blog buddies and appreciate all the work you put into Visual St. Paul. Here's to your having a lot of fun with it this year, too.

  13. I heard Garrison Keilor on NPR today broadcasting from the Minnesota State Fair. You have done a remarkable job of capturing some of the details that the average fairgoer will never see.

My wife, Julie of Scottsdale Daily Photo, was a member of Future Farmers of America as a youth, and she was an udder judger. She never mentioned anything about shaving udders, as you showed a couple of days ago. But you have shown other tasks in grooming the cows that she never mentioned, either.

Congratulations on your third anniversary. You have wonderful daily photo sites in St. Paul and Mazatlan.
