"Where the buffalo roam..."-#19

This unusual sculpture can be found on the third floor of the New Mexico state capitol in Santa Fe. Look closely and you'll see some of materials used in this piece that honors the buffalo: newsprint, metals of different kinds, wires, audio tape, and paint brushes. It's an impressive and imposing piece of art.

It is very impressive and it is also well thought out. I can't imagine even tackling something like this from scratch.

Have you ever seen a large buffalo herd? Impressive indeed but nothing like the two large herds that once occupied our country. Over 60 million animals.

  6. At first I thought it was a real buffalo head, but when I opened your blog I was happy to see it's a sculpture.

I saw some live buffalo this weekend in Denver. They really are magnificent creatures.

  10. I saw this as part of a traveling exhibit and recommend viewing it in person - it is HUGE and the objects in the texture include finds like 35mm film rolls curled out of their canister and a fishing reel - truly fabulous - who's the artist?
