Born on the 4th of July!
DH is really getting into the blogging mentality. Yesterday he suggested a much better subject for the 4th of July than the one I had posted. Maggi, our 6-year-old "mongrel" dog, was born on the 4th of July and is of mixed breed. This is similar to the mixed ancestry of most Americans and certainly is parallel with the members in our own small family who can lay claim to African American, Belgian, Dutch, French, German, Irish, Italian, and Native American ancestors. Now that's truly USA!!

ReplyDeletestill a photo worship, it is really nice and then one cannot forget his birthday. beautiful portrait
Happy bday and 4th to Maggi!
ReplyDeleteMaggi looks beautiful. I personally think mongrels are the way to go! We have two mongrel cats. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're enjoying my Villigen blog. I've been thinking that I should send you some door photos, but I just haven't had time to organize my collection.
Oops, I got confused about the doors blog. I see it mentioned when I visit you, so I thought you were the owner.
ReplyDeleteGosh, Kate, that is a fine looking dog. His coat is slick and shines and what a nice expression on his face. I really love dogs and this is my favorite kind. The mixed breed not only live longer, usually, but are better in other ways. This is my winner too.

It's nice when the pets can get into the spirt of the holidays.
ReplyDeleteDH was right to ask you to add this picture and comments as additional July 4th post! I really like what I see and read!
ReplyDeleteWell I liked yesterday's 4th July posting but I like this one BETTER! Gorgeous dog and great choice, especially with the neck-gear. Maggie is a absolutely beautiful dog and with such an intelligent look in her eyes.
ReplyDeleteMaggi seems to be a very patriotic mongrel. She looks like a very happy soul -- she must have gotten some of the barbeque.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous looking dog! I like Maggi's ribbon around her neck...very patriotic!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cutie pie! Born on the 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteThis dog is so cute :)
ReplyDeleteExtremely cool ...he's adorable and so was the post :)
ReplyDeleteI love the discussion you have about how Americans (and their dogs) are mostly a conglomeratation/ amalgamation nation!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday sweetie!
ReplyDeleteShe's so cute !!! I also love her smart glance !
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! I think that, from the intense stare that she's giving toward the left, that some sort of treat was supposed to be the reward for a good pose.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, we are a melting pot, just as they told us in history class.
Maggie is a dear! You can tell there is a little bit of hero worship in whom ever she is looking at...that or they have a tasty treat all ready for her.
ReplyDeleteLove this post!
ReplyDeleteAnd Maggi ;-)
She's beautifully American! I read your comment on Tuzla DP and had to see Maggi - and wow a 22 year old finch for a brother!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a nice 4th!
You can tell that that is going to be a beautiful dog.
