Adults in my neighborhood also celebrated Halloween. These Italian masks are made of paper machie, and the gold is actually gold leaf. They are simply exquisite.
Hi Kate - love the masks - I bought some in Venice which I adore.
Love your blue post - I'm afraid I'm a day behind and haven't got to even post today as I have been catching up after my diasterous day yesterday. Thought I'd post my second choice for the blue theme.
j'aime bien ces masques italiens, cela fait carnaval, fête. Je te souhaite un bon week-end I like these masks Italians, it's carnival festivities. I wish you a good weekend
I like the masks. I was telling someone this morning that masks have come a long way from my youth. We used to be able to get masks brightly colored on starched cheese cloth. Really flimsy. And held on your head with a rubber band. Remember those Kate.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know that they made that type of mask out of paper mache. Gold leaf makes it so unique.

Sometimes a mask keeps one from having any sense of the person behind it. This mask, though, only accentuates the beauty of the wearer-woman.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are very nice and nice smiling faces! Home made or bought in Venice?
ReplyDeleteBoth blue-eyed ladies -- nice smiles too.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a mask party for adults. Much classier and fun than costume parties.
ReplyDeletewow, gold leaf! I remember seeing beautiful masks like this on a show on Venice Carnival, where they showed how people dress up for the masked ball.
