Familiar?
Wouldn't it be great to invent a product with a logo familiar to everyone? It would also be nice to be able to design a label which is also immediately familiar internationally. I think I'll explore this thread for a little while. What kind of computer do you own? Is its logo one that is familiar around the globe?

Mac, of course! Always have, always will!
ReplyDeleteI would be surprised if someone doesn't recognize this fruit! Interesting challenge! Looking forward to what will follow!
ReplyDeleteKate, I have an old HP Pavilion desktop. It is slooooow :)
ReplyDeleteThe Apple symbol is truly a wonder of brand recognition.
Kate, I am pleased to be able to tell you that your pictured logo is the same one that is on my computer. I love my Mac! I was a Windows PC user for many years. Since I got my Mac, I won't go back!
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me gush, ;-)
Wayne
My notebook is by a company that started as a radio repair shop in a bombed-out building in ... and whose name is a very unique word that does not exist in any language.
ReplyDeleteVery familiar, yes (revenue of $70.303 billion in 2007, imagine that!).
;D
I have a Dell laptop at home and a IBM ThinkPad at work.
ReplyDeleteI love my little white iBook! I've named it Honk because I used to balance it on my steering wheel when I needed to e-mail stories in to the Jackson Free Press on Sunday afternoons. I'd sit in the front seat of my car after I'd pulled up to the nearby coffeehouse with free wifi that came out their locked doubledoors. Every so often, as I typed, the horn would blow on the Buick! Thank goodness none of the stores in the small strip was open!
ReplyDeleteEvery job I've had with a computer provided, theh computer has been a PC--I won't buy one for my personal use after having this one Mac.
I've already decided that my next computer will be a Mac but I bought a Sony Vaio, not so long ago - and I love it - so that will have to wait for a while.
ReplyDeleteI recently stayed in Germany with friends who both have Macs and I was so impressed - so one day...a Mac.
I don't think any computer has such a recognisable trademark as a Mac.
un des logos les plus connus au monde. ton blog est maintenant sponsorisé par Mac ;o)
ReplyDeleteOne of the best-known logos in the world. Your diary is now sponsored by Mac ;o)
Unfortunately my experience in far 2002 with my first iPod was a sort of disaster. I bought a new one in 2004 and it was my second disaster. I don't know if they continue to assemble hardware in the same box where Apple was born or I am so particularly unlucky but for sure I won't do my third experience.
ReplyDeleteMy desktop it's just an assembled one (no brand) and works great. My laptop is Asus unfortunately equipped with Win Vista. So, you see, no so popular brand here.
(nice thread)
Had a Mac and loved it. Got a PC for work in our home office.
ReplyDeleteIts fine and so is our Compaq Presario laptop but oh how I miss the Mac.
The logo and the "special touch" are very important.
ReplyDeleteSomeone is trying to copy IKEA in France but the spirit and the know how are missing. The show rooms are so cheap it's useless.
I can't trust and buy.
It hadn't dawned on me until today that Apple took a bite and unleased all kinds of wrath from the other powers-that-be. Clever of them, wasn't it.
ReplyDeleteI've thought of getting a Mac but have always had Windows using models, right now I'm using a Compaq.
Yes, I recognize the logo. We have a Dell. It's been good so far, but someday will have to update.
ReplyDeleteHi, Kate. Thanks for your comment today. I have been out shooting bridges but, as you know, they are just bridges. I have a hard time taking themes literally. IF I can pull it off, my Dec. 1 post will have a puzzle and contest. Anyone who can identify the three elements of the picture relating to bridges will win a prize.
ReplyDeleteAs to computers: a pox on both their houses. We use Windows at work, with all the usual problems. I got a MacBook Pro a year ago for personal use. I prefer the Windows user interface for about 3/4 of the features although the Mac kicks butt in some areas. I hate it that the Mac leaves parts of Photoshop (and some other programs) scattered around the desktop when there's no picture open. Some software I use frequently isn't available for Mac, particularly Picasa and Dragon Naturally Speaking. That means I have to buy a copy of Parallels and Windows for the Mac, chewing up money and disk space. My Win laptop gets BSOD plenty but the Mac has major problems when upgrading to Leopard (your Administrator account disappears! The workaround was hard to find and time-consuming.)
I have an iMac which uses that logo. It is well known. I also own two DELL computers and an HP. The Dell logo is widely known but I don't suppose it comes close to Apple.
ReplyDeleteAt work, we are running Dell computers with Windows XP and AUtoCAD 2007, dual monitors.
ReplyDeleteSo much troubles with clients on MAC's with their AutoCAD drawings, not very compatible.
At home, We just got rid of our old 1998 Gateway for a new Dell, and Windows based of course.
There are two camps here, Macs VS Windows based. While I believe Macs to be superior in the graphics department, all engineering is done with windows.
So, I stick with what I know, Dell or similar it will always be.
At first I thought this photo had something to do with boycotting commercialism! I'm a Mac user at work and PC at home. I think the Mac colors are better.
ReplyDeleteKate, a Florida room is basically a sunroom. Lots of windows, so you can get the breeze without being in the sun. A little more outside in, as it were. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Wayne
