Old-fashioned candy stores may be a thing of the past, but this array of goodies in one of the concourses at Rosedale Center should warm the heart of any small child.
ADDED LATER: It just occurred to me that I could have added an old classic Ogden Nash aphorism: "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker!"

Kate, do you think the vendor there is the same company that handles the candies in Little Rock. See here.
ReplyDeleteM&Ms and Wicked Watermelons for me pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaassssseeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteThank you, ma'am.
:)
Kate, you are not helping my battle with the munchies! Neat shot. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Wayne
I remember these as a kid. They were always situated by the door of the grocery store. I always had to ask my parents to put in a penny so I could turn the knob.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate - this array pleases the eye, but confuses the palate. Too many choices. I almost forgot about those machines! So American, it was the first time I ever saw it.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could find anything like that here anymore! Maybe somewhere outside of the city. If the dispensers are glass -they'd be smashed - sad state of affairs!
ReplyDeleteVery fun photo!

I have never seen this many machines in one place before. Our little town has a "candy" store and that's all they sell. And it somehow manages to stay open.
ReplyDeleteOh I love them !!!!!! When I was kid 0.01 € = three balls and Fab the most happy child in the world :-)
ReplyDeletei'm one of those kids =)
ReplyDeletegreat selection, i'll start with my favourite jelly beans!
and even not-so-small adults too!
ReplyDeleteI like Nash way better than candy - no sweet tooth here. Nash also wrote:
ReplyDeleteThe one-L lama, he's a beast.
The two-L llama, he's a priest.
But I'm willing to bet
A fine silk pyjama
That you'll never find
A three-L lllama.
(rimshot)
And that's how dentists prosper ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow I love those old machines. Great capture Kate.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed that my link was broken. I was trying to take you to a photo I'd posted earlier this year, of candy in balls just like yours.
ReplyDeleteCute photo, bright and happy, brings smiles to children of ALL ages. :)
ReplyDeleteYummy!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, great old line!
