On occasion in the past, one of the CDP bloggers will post a manhole cover that is unique to their area. Without much luck I have actively looked for a long time for a cover to represent my city. I finally gave up because the ones I saw around town were ordinary at best. Today I just happened to set down a heavy bag of vegetables that I had just bought at the Farmers Market right next to this one. It isn't terribly old, but it reflects St Paul. Serendipity!

Capital City Sewer.

Yes, that is nice to watch down sometimes and find a beautiful manhole at your feet.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that is perfect!
ReplyDeleteNow, you are off to find its 'twin'?
ReplyDeleteI think it's unusual to see new manhole covers with character. Usually the real beauties are ones from times long past. Glad you found it.
ReplyDeletereally cool. love the art they put into it.
ReplyDeleteBravo! I like it!
ReplyDeleteThat works nicely!
ReplyDeleteThat is just about the coolest story find ever! Congratulations - and thank you for sharing the fun of it.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite nice. A friend just finished a long trip in Europe and she kept posting photos of quite lovely and exotic manhole covers. When I was in France recently, I kept looking for fancy manhole covers, but I never saw any interesting ones.
ReplyDeleteNow that's an interesting quest! Congratulations! Nice find!
ReplyDelete(Jack apparently didn't look down enough in Paris. I found a really nice manhole cover not far from the Eiffel Tower.)
How lucky that you found this one! There are some nice ones here in Berlin. I'll take a picture and post next time I think about it.
ReplyDeleteHow cool! I bet I would NEVER find one that interesting in East Gwillimbury...but I will be looking just the same. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a new one, too. I know St. Paul has had sewers longer than since 2010. Serendipity often makes for the best photos. But, then again, it's often about being in the right place at the right time and that's something that's pretty hard to plan ahead of time.
ReplyDeleteIt was just sitting there patiently waiting for you to find it Kate :)
