Detail of the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum on the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus. I often like to view the building from across the Mississippi River because its appearance changes with the color of the light during the day. The galleries feature wonderful exhibits of modern art. Not everyone feels as I do about this museum. I love this Frank Gehry building!

This didn't exist when I attended U of M! Looks very modern and sleek and from what I see I like it, too...
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty cool bit of architecture Kate, have you shown us the inside yet?
ReplyDeleteso funky!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely eclectic!
ReplyDeleteLove these shots. I do love Frank Gehry's work.
ReplyDeleteI really like it too. From burial grounds to this architecture, you've made a mighty jump. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteI knew it had to be a Frank Gehry building! Now that is a stylish structure for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful building, Kate!
ReplyDeleteI love his work too! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteI like it better than many other Gehry buildings. Whenever I see a Gehry building I think to myself that they are going to be very expensive and difficult buildings to maintain.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right, Jack. Some of his otter buildings reportedly have some serious maintenance problems.
DeleteThis looks like a beauty. Your and Jack's comments, above, remind me of problems with the Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center in Marin County, California. It was his last public commission and was plagued for years with leaks and associated issues.
ReplyDeleteNice photos of the Weisman Museum. It's an interesting building, the way it mirrors the light of the moment.
ReplyDeleteGehry is amazingly creative as an architect. This building reminds me very much of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. Love them both.
