When I was in Santa Fe last winter I met Jack McCarthy, a wonderful print artist, and fell in love with several of his prints. Since we are animal lovers and once owned a Norweigan Elkhound named Pavlov, Jim found this print to be quite amusing. Jack kindly mailed it to me, and I had it framed in time for Father's Day.
Wayne, the owner of Ideal Picture Frame Shop in St. Paul, did a splendid job on it. We now own three of Jack's artwork, beautifully framed by Wayne. When he was a kid, Wayne's father, an amateur photographer, took many photos of various kinds of shows and dances. Wayne would take the pictures to a local frame shop and then got interested in learning how to frame paintings and prints. Eventually he was hired by the small frame shop and the rest is history. I really like the way Wayne framed the print for Jim's gift and accommodated me by doing a rush job in order for me to give it to Jim on Father's Day.
I like it very much. The small touch of colour is very clever.
ReplyDeleteLove the whimsy! I bet Jim is pleased!
ReplyDeleteAh, very sneaky Ms Neher. I mean, Ms Mura.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to Mr Mura. I mean, Mr Neher...
That was a really clever print. I think may of us humans have felt like that dog too.
ReplyDeletePS Thank you for the nice comment!
Nice way to celebrate w/ art.
ReplyDeleteNow comes the enjoyable challenge of deciding where to hang it.
ReplyDeleteAnd moving whatever was there before to another place, if it not being hung in a blank space.
I bet he will love it, its very cute.
ReplyDeleteI just saw the poem about crabs that you left on my site today. Delightful. Thank you. It was perfect for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteI added an update to my post to direct people to the poem.
He did do a good job. What a fun surprise for Father's Day...
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that! I bet he was pleased and surprised! Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteA Father's Day gift that actually has some significance is the best kind.
ReplyDeleteAh, it is a fantastic and thoughtful gift! And you are right, the framing is wonderful Kate.
ReplyDeleteGreat print!
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day to all fathers.
What a wonderful gift for Jim! I know he will love it! Hope you both enjoyed the day!
ReplyDeleteNice artwork and portrait of the framer.
ReplyDeleteWonderful gift for this Father's Day!
ReplyDeleteIt is a fine print with special meaning for Jim and you. Your framer did a good job with it. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a cool print! Pavlov's Cat! :-))) Love it.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful gift Kate and you are fortunate to have a framer who can complement the image in the framing so well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a humorous print! I will keep that shop in mind for when I next need something framed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great piece of art (love it!), and how nice to hear the framer's story!
ReplyDeleteMost cats probably operate under Pavlov's Law. I've never know one that could not hear the rattle of cat food and come running from a block away...
ReplyDeleteLove that painting. What great fun and a great gift!
I wonder what Pavlov or his dog would say about this... LOL!!
