Tools to build, maintain, and repair string instruments are neatly arranged in Andy Fein's Fine Violin Shop that I introduced yesterday.
An interesting anecdote: I posted Andy's photo and biographical information on my Flickr blog. A man whose brother studied with Andy in Chicago years ago recognized his name and the information I supplied. Indeed a "very small world!"
Celebrate and Practice Martin Luther King's message on peace, love and equality on this, his special day!

I hope my wife does not see your photos today. She will probably say my tool bench should be as neat as his.
ReplyDeleteThere are some tools I recognize here and some that I don't.
ReplyDeleteThe right tools, if you know how to use them, make all the difference in the world. But I could have all these tools and more and couldn't make a three-legged footstool!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Dave. Wouldn't it be nice if the tools in our garage were arranged so neatly.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that someone knew if this guy! Small world.
I was just thinking that it would be nice if my husband kept his workshop as neat as that. Then I read Dave'e comment. Ha! I guess I'm not alone.
ReplyDeletetools of the trade better than 'tools of the tirade' which is how i first read this. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a small world, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI don't see a power cord hanging from a single tool. A hands on crafter from the old school.
ReplyDeleteI think he must have a super interesting job! Hope we get to see more. :)
ReplyDelete((Grin)) Women seem to notice the tidiness of these tools. I noticed how clean and shiny they are, too. I'm sure that a careful, precise, and artisan trade like this benefits from this approach. It speaks well for his craft.
ReplyDeleteNice shots. It looks like a labor of love.
ReplyDeleteIs it strange that I see these tools and their precise arrangement as works of art as well?
ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous is the hook that the 'thingy' is hanging on in the second shot.. Lovely to imagine how these tools are used to make these beautiful violins.
ReplyDeleteSome tools I recognize.. others I do not.
ReplyDeleteThose violins are beautiful. At some point in a future book, I'll be writing a major character who's a classical violinist.
Love that ornate hook. I could easily find a doodad to hang on it.
