I'm always interested in how schools display their mascots. This mural in a local elementary school looks more like a benign pussycat to me! Bet the students love it, though!

CDP Theme Day Alert: February Theme Day is "Entry"
Added Later: Today is the fourth time schools across Minnesota have been closed because of the temperature (wind chill is a phenomenal −33F) Current temp is −14.6 F. Photo below is from the Pioneer Press website. . .

Young panthers. :-)
ReplyDeleteA nice mural, the panther looks very pettable for the kids.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Kate. It looks more like a kitty cat.
ReplyDeleteAwww was my first thought. Here in Ft. Worth...we are living near TCU. Tom keeps chuckling at their signs stating "Fear the Frog"
ReplyDeleteThat wee kitty does not look very benign to me. I mean, really, check out those eyes. That rascal has got some sneaky things planned which it will do just as soon as your back is turned. And that, I submit, is exactly why the kids like it!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about all the cold. I can't imagine how you're dealing with it. And it's gone on too long. I do remember back in the 50s we sometimes would have a couple of weeks when it didn't get about -20 (real temp). But this is nuts. Just keep bundled up and blog by the fire!
sure does! mighty mild.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the panther. It does look rather cute and gentle.
ReplyDeleteThose temperatures are just crazy. You need to get to Santa Fe soon!
What a sweet little kitty :). Following your weather...makes me cold just thinking about it. Hope you are holding up okay!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Lowell about the cat.
ReplyDeleteThat is just a bit too cold for me. I noticed a couple days ago that it was 40 degrees F in Anchorage, Alaska. What's up with that?
If those temps don't raise the hackles on the mild mannered panther, nothing will! That is doggone cold!
ReplyDeleteI look at the eyes and I'm thinking that panther's kind of sleepy...
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit more moderate here today, but that won't last long before the temps plunge again. What we are seeing is winds blowing snow off roofs, reducing visibility in fits and starts.
Nice little panther :-)
ReplyDeleteIt does have little claws showing, but that's the cutest panther I've ever seen. And it sounds like you're getting hammered - and clawed - by those temperatures! Santa Fe is going to seem s-o-o-o nice by comparison! I hope the journey is truly uneventful.
ReplyDeleteEven the sweetest kitty can be a killer so don't be fooled! ;-)
ReplyDeleteMore purr than roar. Believe it or not, school mascot images can be a point of contention. Hence the softening of the more traditional images. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural. And stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThe symbol and the tiles are very nice!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it doesn't look scary and, since this is an elementary school, that's probably a good thing.
