Loblolly Pine-ABC WEDNESDAY "L"

Pine, Loblolly Pinus taeda

Still traveling home to MN. The Smoky Mountains are fantastic; all downhill from here.  In an immediately forgettable motel on the Interstate surrounded by restaurants with mediocre food.  Oh, the joys of traveling cross-country in the US!

  1. Maybe your route of travel will take your through Chicago. There are some excellent restaurants there that will make up for the mediocre food along the Interstate.

  2. I guess that is why I like to get off the interstate and enjoy the back roads. Not saying we always do...we are we in such a hurry?

  3. I know exactly what you are talking about when you refer to traveling in the US. If you go by interstate, the businesses will be the same pretty much everywhere.

  4. I have seen these trees but didn't know that was their name. Seems appropriate.

  7. Your comments about motels and food makes me laugh, remembering one such place we stopped and had "broasted chicken." It was a very, very quiet night in the middle of Utah. The two staff members from the restaurant actually came out and stood watching us as we ate, either starved for entertainment or fascinated that we'd eat such a dish.

  17. The way they are growing in the water reminds me of the Cypress trees I used to see in South Carolina. Loblolly is such a fun word!
