Not from Wisconsin!
Last Monday Molly, another St. Paul blogger, identified a cheese and sandwich shop on Grand Avenue that I had never visited, despite making weekly stops at Breadsmith next door. I checked it out and met both Blyth and Steve, very personable folks who were behind the counter. I'll be back to taste not only the cheese, but to sample the sandwiches, too. Oh, yes, I also bought some cheese on this first trip to the store.

You're certainly back on track, Kate
ReplyDeleteHummm du bon fromage français ;))
ReplyDeletejust a cheese and sandwich shop? I bet its a great place to try something new.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made it in, Kate. Going back today for a weekend recipe I going to try.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic find. Nothing like a really good cheese shop and if the serve sandwiches too, even better.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote from DeGaulle. I think of it every time Julie sends me to the gourmet supermarket to buy what we need when we have friends over. I always get dizzy trying to find the right kind of cheese. The inside of my brain literally starts spinning like a tornado.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love cheese shops and what delightful people you met in this one! I am already yearning for the "real" French cheese, some of the creamy fragrant type!
ReplyDeleteBises,
G
Sounds tasty! Now for some wine.
ReplyDeleteHi, Kate, Thanks for the link to Molly's and my blog (Molly is actually in London now, I've taken over the MSP one while she's there). Someone has already visited!
ReplyDeleteYes! «Louis», la vache Normande, approves of this!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote and that cheese sounds so good.
ReplyDeleteJust wandered in and really enjoyed you blog. Born and raised in St. Paul, now living in Bluff Country it was nice to see a small but interesting slice of life in my old hometown. Thanks for sharing. btw I loved Franzens Freedom.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, I LOVE good cheese. Happy exploring. The portrait of Blyth is very warm and cute. (Steve could use some smiling lessons . . . )
ReplyDeleteI remember the commercial for this brand of cheese when I lived in France. Fromager d'Affinois!
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmm. Cheese! That's a great de Gaulle quote!
ReplyDeleteI love good cheeses but am watching my diet now. So I'm sticking with hard cheeses with strong flavors because a little goes a long way with those. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your cheese and sandwich.
The last I heard, De Gaulle being a bit ancient history now, they stopped at 365 cheeses. And no, an affinois is not a brie!
