The Super Bowl game is History!

Holman Field in downtown St. Paul accommodated and parked several dozen jets, used by spectators who arrived for the Super Bowl game.  Deciding to have breakfast at the restaurant, Holman's Table, I had a good view of the jets getting ready to take off. Despite the fact that the airport stayed open 'til 4 am this morning, there were still quite a number waiting to take off at 8:30 when I arrived to view some of the departures. Stay tuned for more on tomorrow's post.

  1. I'm sure the Super Bowl brought in some money for the area, although I'm not sure if that offset the cost incurred by the public (police, fire, etc.). Your photo reminded me of the years that I spent traveling, much of it in the air. One particularly snowy time I remarked to a stewardess that she probably would prefer flying in the summer. And she said something to the effect: "Oh no. The winter is much better and safer. In the summer we are constantly in danger from thunderstorms."

  2. Looks like too much snow to fly... guess not!

  3. Now all the madness begins to leave town after the big game. I picked the wrong team, oh well. :) When I was younger, I used to go to Logan Airport; ride the elevator up to the roof of Eastern Airlines and spend an afternoon watching the planes take off and land. Looking at your photo reminded me of those days.

  4. It seems odd to be able to see the planes from anywhere in the airport, not like when I was a kid and we would go for the day to watch things - like Bill said!

  7. Hi Kate. I had no idea you were an airline "stewardess." My traveling days were in the mid-70s when I was in charge of young adult ministry for the Lutheran Church in America and worked out of Philadelphia. I flew Northwest Airlines frequently, but I can't remember North Central. I don't fly at all anymore! :)
