Our neighbourhood has been playing host to this bird and its many relatives that move up and down the street and through back yards without invitation, acting as though they own the place. Yesterday the one above casually walked up our neighbour's driveway, made its way up the few steps in order to peer through the glass front door. I imagine it was interested in its own reflection. I think that the main draw is roomy and free St. Kate's campus, as they move from one neighbourhood to another, coming up from the Mississippi River.
These fowl uninvited visitors drive our dogs wild, perhaps because their primitive hunting instincts kick in when they see the birds. Despite the fact that our back yard has a protective fence, DH is afraid that one of them with capture and take off with Wild Wendy.

Very creative photo of your feathered friend visitor ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you,

Do you know what this is? A hawk of some kind? From your photo it reminds me of our vultures. I can imagine you'd want to keep Wild Wendy safe inside the house, though!
ReplyDeleteQuite a bird!
ReplyDeleteInteresting photo, I wonder what kind of bird is it?
ReplyDeleteOh dear! My dog usually ignores birds but if one came up to the door, I'm sure he would bark.
ReplyDeleteA nice visitor!
ReplyDeleteHello, I would like to have this bird as a neighbor. Is it a grouse or maybe some kind of guinea hen? Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! You got a wonderful shot of him!
ReplyDeleteThe bird looks rather big. Nice shot!
ReplyDeleteGrouse? Its tiny head makes me think it's likely too dumb to harbor illusions about doing Wendy harm.
