Pilots from several states flew their aircraft to Washington Island, Wi to enjoy the Lions Club Fly-In Fish Boil on a perfect sunny day. Check my post yesterday for more coverage of this annual event.
Kate, thank you so much for posting pictures of one of my all time favorite aircraft, a Waco UPF-7. It has a big radial engine that probably consumes as much oil as gasoline. There is no protection from weather in those open cockpits, but this is real flying. How great you got to see this aircraft up close.
That's a real beauty. We have a couple of neighbors who fly radial engines like this one, one even does aerobatics and sometimes flies wing walkers. You can hear the sounds far and wide.
Looks like fun and you get to view some vintage planes.
ReplyDeleteFun I saw some planes too :)
ReplyDeleteThat is one impressive looking vintage plane.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an oldie! What a beauty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful plane!
ReplyDeleteKids with toys. Or big kids with big toys. Flying in from several states for a "fish boil"? Fun and funny!
ReplyDeleteLove the plane, Kate!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool old plane!

ReplyDeleteI just came from Marianne's blog. Your planes are bigger...and a costlier hobby!
