Delores

A '50's photo of my sister who died last week.
I like to remember her
as a carefree young woman about
to embark on life.

Heaven by Patrick Phillips
It will be the past
and we'll live there together.
Not as it was "to live"
but as it is remembered.
It will be the past.
We'll all go back together.
Everyone we ever loved,
and lost, and must remember.
It will be the past.
And it will be forever.

  1. A very poignant photograph! It's amazing how fast time passes. I think the 50s were one of my favorite decades as I was entering adulthood but still didn't have a sense as to how tragic life could be. Thanks for stopping by and your comment. Best wishes to you!

  4. I agree with Jacob...time does pass quickly. A fun picture to pay tribute to your sister. As I turn 70 this year...I am remembering how old I thought 40 sounded.

  5. I applaud your choice of a photograph from your sister's south. So often we see photos of faces of decedents as lives are in decline. Remembering your sister as an attractive and vital young woman would make her happy.

  6. I agree with Jack. We often spend the best parts of our lives with people in those younger, less care filled days. It's good to remember that, especially when we've lost them. The poem is also lovely.

  7. Images and memories may remain for a long time, I want to think, as some Eastern philosophies, that the spirit of loved beings are always accompany us.

  8. A sweet picture of your sister, this is how we remember each other the best, as we were young and full of ideals. Sad it will ever end...
