Restaurant mural

I found this mural on a patio wall behind a restaurant on Lake Street.  The owner had just sketchy bits of information about it, remembering only that the artist originally came from Columbia but had left the Twin Cities.  Didn't know his name nor the significance of the mural.  I found this odd since she and her sisters have owned the restaurant for the past 17 years.  I guess artistic significance and details weren't important to her, but her food takes precedence, although I wasn't thrilled with the meal.

Linking to Monday Murals.

  1. Quite interesting to hear that the owners have a big mural on their restaurant and don't know much about it, but still keep it. They must like it at least, or are they not allowed to remove it?

  2. that is odd...you would think owning the building would make you want to know about it, it would me...too bad the meal wasn't great :(

  3. How sad. I think, especially as we get older, that our interest in things around us makes for a much richer life. Poor thing ,doesn't sound like she is even interested in her own cooking.

  4. I agree with Mersad. At first I thought it had something to do with the type of restaurant. It is nice though.

  5. it is kind of sad she has no details or description of what it was to signify or depict.

  6. It is strange that the owner didn't have better information about the mural. It is an interesting one.

  7. I guess street artists should paint their names and websites on their work.

Julie has some photos of murals on the back of a restaurant that she will be posting in the future.

  8. That is kind of odd. It is such an unusual looking mural, there must be a story behind it.

  10. It certainly would be nice to know more. Odd the owner has no clue. MB

  11. What a puzzle that they're either not interested or maybe not willing to disclose anything. (You think they may have thought you were a building inspector wondering if they had a permit??)

  12. The image is quite impressionistic, don't you think? Pity the artist didn't sign it. The placement of the right foot looks a little weird to me. Oh, well. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural. Apologies for the Linky snafu but I finally got most of the thumbnails up.

  16. Reminds me of some of the gods and men in our indigenous mythologies. Sorry to hear about the food.
