Bridge Over Hwy 94
I took this photo as we were travelling on Highway 94 from Minneapolis to St. Paul. The blue structure is a footbridge across the highway from the Walker Art Sculpture Garden to the Loring Park area. At one time these two areas were connected but the freeway cut it into two and changed the landscape. In the background several churches are visible as well as the Lowry Hill tunnel, which was completed in 1971.

It is a shame when freeways cut an area, but at least you have a nice walkway.
ReplyDeleteNice bridge and lovely photo!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Sunday:)
beautiful churches!
ReplyDeleteQuite a clear picture taken through a windshield.
ReplyDeleteBet this area looked great before the freeway and the bridge.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct that freeways divide neighborhoods and former neighbors. At least more cities seem to be building pedestrian bridges and sound walls to lessen their impact.
ReplyDeleteNice drive by shot Kate!
ReplyDeleteThe Walker Sculpture Garden is one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis. Such wonderful sculptures there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad this bridge doesn't block the view of the church.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very familiar scene...
ReplyDeleteGood place for a footbridge! I bet it's used often.
