Pianos

Several years ago decorated pianos like this one were located in many public spaces throughout the city of St. Paul.  It was fun to see and listen to pedestrians who stopped to tinkle a tune on one of those. Children also were tempted to try their hand at making music.  This was the first and only piano I saw this year, located outside Cafe Latte on Grand Avenue.  Do you think this qualifies for an unusual Monday Mural?

  8. Very cool! I wish Madison would do something like this, especially considering how popular CowParade and Artzoobilee were.

  14. You say "mur-al," I say "mural." They both mean the same thing. So, yes, count it as a mural. Love the whole idea of pianos in public. But you would have a hard time prying my fingers from the keyboard.

  16. What a fun and whimsical idea. Wonder what happened to the other pianos? Love the idea of passersby having the opportunity to sit down and play a tune. Thanks, Kate, for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.

  19. Kate, if you think it is a mural, it is a mural. I have read about those public pianos but the only place I have seen them is on blogs.
