A Thanksgiving Dish?
Because the temperature has dipped and it is now chilly, most of the vendors have stopped selling at the Farmer's Market but I couldn't resist stopping to see what is still available and to pick up some late harvest produce. This "branch" of brussels sprouts is a real bargain for $3.00. There are some tasty recipes on the internet for this dish so explore and give it a try!

We've got less vendors now at the farmer's market. I wonder tomorrow if they'll be moving inside or not for the winter season.
ReplyDeleteWhat? These are brussel sprouts? Holy crap! I thought they came in a bag in a freezer at the supermarket! And they're just little round things. They don't look anything like this. Are you sure? Maybe these are St. Paul sprouts? Maybe?
ReplyDeleteLove them cooked with pancetta. Yum.

I have seen them for sale in supermarkets. haven't researched. I wonder if there a recipe to cook them still attached?
ReplyDeleteBrussels sprouts are so much tastier after a hard frost! Yep, a bargain!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite vegetables Kate.. unfortunately not one of P's :(
ReplyDeleteEG's right. I've read they're best after the first frost and also that buying them in this form is also a good way to get them. I just saw a Jacques Pepin recipe for these shredded and cooked with bacon.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen how they grow, I was surprized to see this picture!
