I assume that is a good thing, as i tkeeps the color around longer. Except maybe it will be colder when it is time to rake the leaves.
My brother and his wife are enjoying the three-day weekend on the north shore of Lake Superior, and they said yesterday that the fall colors are mostly gone up there.
In contrast we are finally experiencing early autumn here in Texas. The trees aren't quite dramatic yet but I'm hoping they will be in a few more weeks. The height of our fall foliage doesn't come until closer to Christmas.
I know exactly what you mean, Kate. I took some shots in our local park yesterday. Leaves on many trees are still green and the ones that have changed colors are not on the ground :).
Wow! What a fantastic color! The fall here in Germany has also been a long one. The temps have been quite mild and the trees still have some color. But those gray skies just get me down.
The best part of Autumn is in your picture. Our trees have lost almost all of their leaves and we spent all day yesterday raking them up. The price we pay for summer shade and fall color.
Count yourself lucky! This is s-o-o-o beautiful! We've had a wind storm or two that have blown our leaves (and everything else) halfway across the state.
That is a pretty tree. You should hope that the leaves fall off before the snow falls. Two years ago Connecticut had a delayed leaf-fall and then a major snowstorm on Halloween. The leaves acted like sails. The weight of the snow cracked thousands of trees and utility poles.
Yes we had the same here, but after the latest storm some have lost their leaves now.
ReplyDeletebeautiful colors.
