Landmark Center
The reflection of part of The Landmark Center in downtown St. Park is quite clear on a building across from it. The small bottom photo is a partial view of the building itself. The Landmark Center was saved from the wrecking ball in 1972 by determined citizens. To learn more about this remarkable building, go here.

i'm glad there were people wanting to save it, it's too beautiful a building to demolish!
ReplyDeleteReally super reflection. Like both buildings.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness it was saved. It would be a shame to lose such a wonderful old building.
ReplyDeleteI'm always thrilled the hear about a lovely old building being saved because there were interested citizens who were willing to have their voices heard.
ReplyDeletebeautiful reflection shot! glad they saved the building.
ReplyDeleteIt's a handsome building! I sure am glad the building was saved. What were they thinking, those people who wanted to destroy it?!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing that it was saved. They don't make them like that anymore. Wouldn't our cities be a boring place without these old beauties to spice things up?
ReplyDeleteQuite the reflection you captured of the historic building.
ReplyDeleteHooray for the folks that recognized the structure was an integral part of St. Paul's heritage. What some see as progress; others see as going backwards. Sensible minds prevailed in this case!
It is a beautiful building. And nice captures of it!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet it was no small effort to save this beautiful building. The 1970s was prime time for "out with the old, in with the tacky." Lovely shots!
ReplyDeleteIt is a spectacular building, Kate. It boggles the mind the wonderful buildings that have been threatened and the junky buildings that persevere.
ReplyDeleteI'm remember it from all my visits (as a child) to the downtown public library. Since then a wedding anniversary was held there for my wifes nephew and I do believe his daughter is a manger of the building somehow....:) This is fun to see pictures of my old hometown....
ReplyDeleteNice reflection Kate.
ReplyDeleteExcellent reflection Kate and very interesting link, thank goodness it was saved and I love that it's now being used in artistic endeavours.
