    Kathy and Genie, Actually it isn't used here. It's just an affectation of mine as an affectionate paen to my southern friends!

    Yeah, I've seen that sign. One thing Minnesota could do to make visitors more welcome is fix up their welcome center on I-94... :-)

    I left Minnesota in 1997 .. after 24 years. Folks still ask me if I'm from MN after just a few sentences! I'm nice too.

    Every state/province should have a beautiful welcoming gateway sign. It is much better than the usual boring road sign looking ones.

    Re your comment on my comment: Maybe I made a misjudgment but the last time we stopped at that rest stop it was really grubby and run-down and did not leave a good impression of Minnesota. Or maybe they've spruced things up since. Or maybe I misrecall...that could happen.
