A NEW ROOF:
1) Arrival of the insurance adjuster, with clipboard in hand,
2) Figures for repair of wind-damaged shingles on 10-year-old roof,
3) Interview and select roofing company, making sure that the immigrants are treated and paid fairly,
4) Wait forever for date of roofing,
5) Arrival of shingles deposited in driveway. Unable to use garage,
6) Dumpster takes up the rest of the driveway. Car is parked in street,
7) Hispanic workers arrive to rip off old shingles and affix new ones,
8) Dog is terrorized by the noise,
9) Leaving the house to get away from the noise.

Oh my, been there and done that at our former house.
ReplyDeleteSo inconvenient and noisey.
Your poor doggie....
I don't blame you for escaping.
It will be wonderful when its all done though.
I do feel for you! The installation of a new roof is dirty and very noisy work! Fortunately, it usually doesn't take more than a day or two - down here, anyway.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, all went well and you are now secure from the elements which are sure to become ever more fierce in the days ahead!
It's always an adventure when they show up to work on the house -- they're here now, even as we speak. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou should be all cozy now for the winter! And it sure looks like a cold day.
ReplyDeletehope it is all sorted and the dog is back and happy

Better a new roof than snow in the living room.
ReplyDeleteContagious smile.
ReplyDeleteRosary Beads
I have worked on roofs in the past. An enjoyable occupation, when the weather is fine.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, the whole thing will be quick!
ReplyDeleteJust in time for winter!
ReplyDeleteBut that's such an engaging smile he gave you Kate, hope it won't take too long to complete. Been catching up with posts I've missed while away in Sydney, loved the story of Lexie, so glad she has such a great home now. Didn't F Scott Fitzgerald spend a lot of time in Paris too? Btw when does the 'cross country' skiing begin??
ReplyDeleteTo leave during noisy works is always the better option, if possible.
ReplyDeleteRemarkable post!

Poor Kate, I don't want to be in your place now and wish all the replacement works will end really soon.
ReplyDeleteWell that was an unusual letter R!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. I think our house will need a new roof next year. I feel for your terrorized dog.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sounds like a fun process, but I guess you'll be happy when the final result is there!
