In "The Mending Wall" Robert Frost
did not agree that...
"Good fences make good neightbors."
Instead Frost's poem declared
"Something there is that doesn't love a wall..."

Robert Frost had a good point except when one has dogs! Great way of looking at today's theme, Kate.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat fence. Thanks for the reminder of the theme day topic on my blog a couple of days in advance. I always forget about theme day. If I had remembered I would have saved that photo for today.
ReplyDeleteune barrière fleurie pour la Toussaint
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with your opinion on fences :)
ReplyDeleteFences to confine animals I understand but I see more and more fences these days to keep people out. Are we becoming more and more afraid of each other?
ReplyDeletenice colorful choice
ReplyDeleteAt least this fence has some color and beauty to contrast its plainness. Good choice for today.
ReplyDeleteA very nicely maintained fences and landscaping around it for theme day!
ReplyDeleteI liked your skeleton photo yesterday, Great Kate!
Yes,they do, and even better ones when the fence is well-decked and attractive.
ReplyDeleteI like the corner angle you selected for this shot. And, the colorful flowers are a perfect addition.
ReplyDeleteThat fence is very neat and uniform! I like it.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I agree totally with M. Frost Kate, we don't have a fence at the front but definitely at back, my birds need something to sit on haha!! Kate have you always had your relies and pets down the side? Nana in Mexico is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice fence, but I like the plants better.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a fence can be one's only salvation. At our old house in Ocala our neighbors had four dogs, three cats, a pig, chicken and a rabbit.
ReplyDeleteOne dog was a vicious young German Shepherd. He attacked out Golden on the street and got her by the neck. I had to beat the damn dog and he still didn't let go until his owner came running and apologizing.
If we hadn't had a fence I would have had to shoot it! :-)
I like your fence, too. Very much. Looks very Minnesotan what with the stone wall beneath!
Happy marigolds!~

This is a rather unusual and pretty fence. A good neighbor indeed.
ReplyDeleteInteresting corner, nice flower and beautiful fence.
ReplyDeleteI agree with mr. Frost. Fences keep people from getting to know each other.
ReplyDeleteA fine fence for Theme Day, Kate!
ReplyDeleteThis fence rather detracts from the stone wall, but is uplifted by the beautiful flowers. Probably it's needed to keep the kids or pets in?
ReplyDeleteSo modern and stylish!
ReplyDeleteI like that a lot of effort has gone into sofening the fence barrier with lovely bright flowers
ReplyDeleteYou have to wonder about our society when you see more and more people having tall privacy fences installed. Mr. Frost's "Stopping By The Woods On A Snowy Evening" has certainly been appropriate for my neighbors to the west.
ReplyDeleteThat is so nice with the flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove your post, Kate! Great to see that poem so appropiately used today for the fences theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm not very hospitable: we have a fence around our garden that keeps the deer out of our vegetables. And I don't feel guilty. There's a large, wild area nearby where they can eat the wild roses and shrubs to their heart's content. Otherwise, it's rather nice to not be obsessive about fences.
ReplyDeleteLove your pic and quotes Kate
ReplyDeleteLovely entry, Kate!
ReplyDeleteGreat image for this theme, it looks well made by good neighbors!
