Curling up with a good book is one of life's pleasure, especially if you can climb a tree to do it. Carved out of a tree, this child still illustrates it best!!
I think this is wonderful and yes, I'd love to learn more about the artist, if she or he did any more of these and how the idea came to do it out of a tree, while still a tree--it's pretty awesome.
How nice...and I love what is being portrayed. I watched part of "Freedom Writers" this evening. I love that she worked a second job to get her students books. I know it is only a movie...but.
I agree with peter`s opinion! At once I saw it, I had a plenty of questions from it. We had here in North Karelia the woman - Eva Ryynänen - who made this kind of carving, they are fine works. I have to visit her place. Thanks for idea!
Magnificent carving. Not easy but lots do it with chain saws nowadays and never saw a mallet and chisel. This looks like a mallet and chisel. Wow. Nice post.
I love this carving. The expression on the face is especially nice.

ReplyDeleteI've been into photography for most of my life now, but when I see "real" art like carving and painting that truly takes talent, I am amazed.
