I'm posting this a little behind schedule since several events intervened since July 31st. As promised, here is the icon that stands in front of the children's bookstore, which we all love in St. Paul!
Very sweet. Your Cancer Survivor photo was really beautiful. She looks strong too.
On August 1st when I heard about the bridge I thought of you instantly. Odd how you feel you know someone --My first thoughts were of you and wondering how you were taking it.
Last month I was going to do a post on the condition of the aging Tappan Zee Bridge-- a bridge that is in very bad shape... but I hadn't gotten a close up photo, so I never posted the post.
I heard about the bridge collapse a couple of days after it happened, which made me feel quite removed from the US. How terrible to go through such an experience, even as a community. I feel for all of you there. My colleague on the trip lived there for many years, and she was quite upset too. Hope all is well for you.
That is startling and beautiful and the sculpture should be given a presidential citation of some kind. It isn't very often that I get the urge to pee when I see a piece of art, but this piece almost turned my faucet on. Wow.
I am most impressed, Kate. That is not easy to do. I have carved everything from stone to wood and with everything from hammer and chisel to chain saws and believe me getting three bears out of a tree log is no piece of cake.
Too cute :-)
ReplyDeleteCheers from Ljubljana, Slovenia
Yes, I can see how this would be tremendously memorable.

You never imagine the actual horror though.
Great shot, Kate, that is a very memorable creation.

ReplyDeleteLove the Three Bears and balloon icon. The bookstore looks so cozy and kid friendly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a love bear family...ready to read to the little one, I'll bet.
ReplyDeleteAnything to get kids to read, I say ;-)
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's a balloon - looks like a juicy red strawberry!

ReplyDeleteDoesn't baby bear look so cute?
ReplyDeleteIt must be pestering mummy tear to read her a story. :)
No problem; we could wait the two extra days and we know at least partly why you had to be "delayed". This statue is really very nice and different!!
ReplyDeletecette statue-sculture est superbe, mais l'arbre est il encore vivant ?
