The Chapel

I often wondered why this large beautiful building is called a chapel.  This is what the college website has to say about it:

"Structurally imposing and architecturally stunning, Our Lady of Victory Chapel is an integral part of St. Catherine University. Inspired by St. Trophime at Arles in Provence, France, the Chapel has a rich history, offers sacred ritual and serves as cherished space for reflection and prayer.

She opens her doors and invites St. Kate’s students, faculty, staff and neighbors to share in the Liturgy of the Mass every Sunday morning. She opens her arms to those who wish to celebrate in ways both secular and religious — as well as to those who need to grieve, to weep and to heal."

Duck, Duck, Ducklings-Camera Critters

Living behind St. Kate's college has its benefits.  The beautiful campus has a pond where wildlife gather during all four seasons. When granddaughter, Olivia and I went to feed the ducks, we were treated by the sight of a mother duck and her 8 ducklings.  Only six appeared on camera because the other two were too slow to make their City Daily Photos debut.

More Minnesota Workers

Despite the cold weather, construction continues on the retirement community in our neighborhood.  The way buildings are put up now is a far-cry from the construction sites I used to see years ago.  I wonder how long it will be before it's finished?

Patterns

There is no bridge over troubled waters here on St. Kate's campus!  This lovely little bridge leads to an even lovelier little island where one can sit on a bench to watch the ducks and turtles frolic in the water. Come join me!

Meet Kate, the Potter

Meet Kate, the Potter.  At art fairs I immediately go to the booths that feature pottery or textiles.  Kate's pieces drew me to her tent because of the colours and the lovely pieces she had on display. This fair was especially interesting because the artists and artisans were Midwest people, primarily from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

Art Fair

Tomorrow I'll show you some of the wares that were for sale last Sunday outdoors on the beautiful St. Kate's campus.  Every summer a juried show of textiles, pottery, glassware, visual arts, clothing and much more are displayed in white tents, all of which is anticipated and much admired by the community. If you get a little tired walking from the parking lot off Fairview Avenue, rest awhile...
