Meet Lee, the Potter

Lee is another Minnesotan who showed her pieces at the Art Fair on St. Kate's campus last Sunday. Beautiful pieces, aren't they?

Meet Kate, the Potter

Meet Kate, the Potter.  At art fairs I immediately go to the booths that feature pottery or textiles.  Kate's pieces drew me to her tent because of the colours and the lovely pieces she had on display. This fair was especially interesting because the artists and artisans were Midwest people, primarily from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

Ten Thousand Villages

I finished my volunteer orientation and training for Ten Thousand Villages and will begin volunteering next week. I have a schedule of one-day-a-week at various times of the day, some in the morning, some in the afternoon, and a few in the evening. I think that it will be interesting and rewarding to volunteer at this non-profit Fair Trade shop because of the wonderful merchandise, one of which is an urn shown above.

A Burst of Yellow

At the recent Highland Art Festival, which is in my neighborhood, my eye caught both the pottery and the sunflowers. The artist displayed some lovely pieces and arranged them nicely with the burst of yellow flowers. Didn't buy anything, tho.

Today my darlin' husband, two terrific grandkids, Maggi our dog and I are on our way to an area I adore and where I was born: Door County, Wisconsin. First a stop in Green Bay to re-introduce the children to "The Shrine", Packer Stadium, a brief visit with relatives and after a family reunion on Friday, we'll drive up the Peninsula and take the ferry to Washington Island for a week of eating, sleeping, and reading. After Paris and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Door County is my favorite spot!!

Mugs- Circles #7

The art and craft fair that I visited last Friday had booths with textiles, baskets, clothing, paintings, photography, jewelry, leather goods, pottery and much, much more. These mugs caught my eye because of the way in which they would fit this circle theme. Is anyone getting tired of it yet?

Pottery Circles

I'm still carrying on the circle theme, and I'm having great fun doing it. Every December, there is a holiday Art and Craft Fair held in Ramsey Junior High School on Grand Avenue in St. Paul. Although I seldom buy anything since my quest is for more photos, I visit each year...only this time I was looking for...what else? Circles!! Potter Kate Daly had wonderful objects for sale at her booth.
