Sunday Bridges-Double Decker

This overpass on Godfrey Parkway is a rather scenic roadway, leading to the Ford Parkway bridge if you're travelling on the top but going straight ahead leads to West River Parkway along the Mississippi River.

There is no bridge over troubled waters here on St. Kate's campus!  This lovely little bridge leads to an even lovelier little island where one can sit on a bench to watch the ducks and turtles frolic in the water. Come join me!

The High Bridge-The Mighty Mississippi

The High Bridge is a bridge that carries Minnesota State Highway 149 over the Mississippi River in St. Paul, Minnesota. The bridge is a two lane, street set-up over the river. The original bridge, built in 1895, was damaged by a storm in 1905. The southernmost five spans were rebuilt. Due to deterioration over the years, the old bridge was demolished in 1985. A new bridge was built and opened in 1987. The ornamental ironwork on the new bridge was built using iron from the old bridge. The High Bridge has a height of 160 feet, making it the highest bridge in St. Paul. (Wiki Website) ADDED LATER: The photo is not tipsy; the bridge is indeed slanted because the banks on either side are of different heights. The boats are a paddle wheeler used for tourism and houseboats as restaurants and a B & B.

Stillwater Bridge

Stillwater, Mn, situated on the St. Croix River, is a picturesque former lumber town that is filled with lovely old homes, restaurants, antique shops and various other stores that are filled with boaters and tourists, especially in the idyllic summer months. Because of the recent tragic collapse of the 35W bridge in Minneapolis, a spotlight has been shown on other bridges throughout the country. The Stillwater bridge spans the St. Croix, connecting cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. A new bridge has been on the drawing board for years, but several lawsuits have been filed opposing a new structure because of its historical significance and environmental issues on the river. The bridge has a 2.8 safety score on a 100 point scale, and if I lived in Stillwater, I don't think that I would use it!! For more information, check this Wiki article for the whole scoop.
