Despite the early snowfall that luckily melted by mid-afternoon and the cool temperature, the annual outdoor OysterFest organised by the Meritage restaurant in downtown St. Paul was enjoyed by a large crowd of people on Sunday. White tents were set up to shelter those who expertly shucked the oysters for the hungry gourmets who waited patiently in line for the delicacies supplied by The Fish Guys. The well-organised event also had beverage tents, delectable crepes, an oyster store, a shucking showdown stage, a band and fire pits to help keep us warm. DH and I had a great time!

A fun event.
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time I see photos of a OysterFest.
ReplyDeleteI love oysters! Would not miss that oysterfest!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like quite an event. How many oysters did you eat?
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of delicious fun Kate 🐚🐌
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a pile!
ReplyDeleteCuriously, just before reading this post I had read a post by Red Pat on Occasional Toronto about a mural on a garage door. I commented that it should have been on a seafood restaurant. Then I came here and there's an Oysterfest. Somebody is trying to tell me something. :^)
ReplyDeleteUsed to sit behind a guy in graduate school who ate raw oysters in class.
ReplyDeleteYum! The town next to us had a big crab festival about a week ago. It's a lot of work, whichever it is.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great event. Bet it was crowded and enjoyed by everyone.
ReplyDeleteSnow already.! I think our winters are long and we don’t get a single flake of snow.
ReplyDeleteI've never really gotten into oysters but have reacted badly to mussels a couple of times so I don't really try either of them anymore.
