Schultz's characters are immortalised with statues scattered throughout our city. This is a perfect description of "love"--Schroeder is in love with Beethoven and Lucy is in love with Schroeder. Why so many character-statues? Well, Charles M. Schultz was one of "our boys"-- learn more about him here.

ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant surprise to stroll through the park and come across Schultz characters.
ReplyDeleteThat gave me a big smile!
ReplyDeleteUnrequited love!
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, Lucy always reminded me of my sisters... which would be one reason I tended to prefer Peppermint Patty and Marcie.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the St. Paul statues. Nor that Mr. Schultz was a native. Actually, Wikipedia says he was born in Minneapolis.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, but he grew up in St Paul going to both elementary and high school here. If I recall correctly, his father owned and operated a barber shop not far from where I live and the family lived above it. He used to play in Mattock's Park, quite close to where I live and which I featured last month in one of my blogs. We claim him!!
DeleteGame. Set. Match.
DeleteHaving a little of Schroeder in my background, I can only smile at this. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh this statue is lovely. We are going to a sculpture exhibit tomorrow, I bet none of them will be as good as this.
ReplyDeleteThey look funny.
ReplyDeleteSanta Rosa, CA claimed Schultz at the other end of his life. That's where he lived then. There were many Schultz statues around, decorated by various artists.
