WPA Sign

It is interesting to take a walk with Wild Wendy that goes along a different route.  Today I found this plaque on a stone wall at Horace Mann Elementary school on the corner of Wilder and Eleanor streets. I have lived in the neighbourhood for 43 years and never noticed this waist-high historical wall at the main entrance.  In the midst of the current remodelling of the school, it offers a nice contrast between the modern expansion of the school and history of the property.

  3. Sometimes you don't notice things you pass for years, because they are so familiar.

  4. It is good that it is surviving the changes!

  5. I used to see signs like that when I lived back in Illinois. I don't think I've seen any here in Arizona. My dad used to tell us about the WPA when we were younger.

  6. The WPA built wonderful projects for the nation, and was a good experience for those who participated. Good you spotted this sign.

  7. I think that happens to all of us, we pass things and somehow don't see them because it is so familiar. Nice find, maybe Wild Wendy helped sniff it out so you could notice. :)
