I suspect that there will probably be a number of abandoned buildings posted for this theme day, but I couldn't resist selecting this one because I think it evokes many feelings: rustic beauty, nostalgia, isolation and many more. It also sadly is a statement about the condition of our rural past.

Nice shot... definitely abandoned.
ReplyDeleteSomething inviting about an abandoned, rustic building that attract's the photographer's eye. Nice find.
ReplyDeleteI always want to go through these buildings to see what I can find, but they look rather dangerous and would probably fall down upon me! I'd guess if you dug in the earth around the building you'd find lots of old/antique artifacts.
ReplyDeleteGood theme day post.
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time...if only walls could talk.
ReplyDeleteGreat theme day post Kate. I love these kind of buildings.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate. Yes, you're missing a great author if you like mystery novels. Randy Wayne White created Doc Ford, a funky character who lives on Sanibel Island...if you've spent time on Sanibel or Captiva or Southwest Florida, you can really get into these books. Try one, I think you'll like it. I haven't kept up with White or his character for some time, so he may have made some changes as to what ol' Doc Ford is up to.
ReplyDeleteThere is a certain beauty to it!
ReplyDeleteAt least wooden building age in a picturesque way. Sadly mobile homes don't. Lovely shot!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an average farmstead in North Dakota.
ReplyDeleteAbandoned is one way of describing large numbers of farmsteads. The land is mostly still in use, but the buildings are not.
ReplyDeleteit's beautiful if not sad kate...i like the way you photographed it..
ReplyDeleteYou wonder how many more years it has.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good post but I also feel sad about its commentary on the rural U.S. Nice find for the theme.
ReplyDeleteAlways makes me sad to see Kate and also curious to know what their story was
ReplyDeleteReally a good find for this theme, Kate !
ReplyDeleteIt is quite beautiful and you caught it in just the right light!
